20th year of the Jaipur Jewellery Show garners stupendous response

The World Gold Council and MMTC-PAMP India Pvt. Ltd. have jointly launched the ‘Precious Metals Assay and Training Institute’ (PMATI) to develop a new generation of skilled assayers. 

Jewellers are facing challenges in availing funds from banks following the PNB fraud case in which diamond traders Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi are allegedly involved, a top industry official said.

Given the current climate, this could be a tall order. There is no dearth for inspiration in this country that has had a longstanding heritage when it comes to craftsmanship. We have a strong foundation in jewellery manufacturing and the industry currently employs 4.5 million skilled and semi-skilled workers across India, but we are meeting only 10 per cent of the global demand.
